This position will play an essential role in helping us continuously enhance our digital products through human-centered design methods. In this role, you will work closely with subject matter experts to understand the unique and specialized business requirements of our software applications and websites. These products help save and improve the lives of patients waiting for an organ transplant. You will bring those requirements to life through a deep understanding of user needs to create intuitive user experiences and enhance customer satisfaction.
We’re seeking a designer with a deep interest in research, strong listening and analytical skills, who is curious, open-minded, and always learning. You’ll conduct in-depth interviews with customers and business stakeholders to gain insights and translate them into user flows, customer journey maps, wireframes and low- and high-fidelity prototypes. As you learn, you’ll quickly synthesize research, invite customers to provide feedback and iterate on designs. You will use research insights to quickly prototype and test solutions.
Work closely with subject matter experts to improve digital products through human-centered design methods. Conduct in-depth interviews with customers, users and business stakeholders to collect valuable research insights. Use qualitative and quantitative data such as surveys, heatmaps, Google Analytics, task analysis and other information to understand user behavior and identify areas of improvement. Translate concepts into end-to-end user flows, customer journey maps, wireframes and prototypes that lead to intuitive user experiences and customer satisfaction. Proactively collaborate with IT teams and provide front-end development support as necessary to ensure visual systems standards are met, are mobile focused and support current platforms.
5 years of UX design experience. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience designing for multi-faceted software.
Clear understanding of human-centered design and design thinking. Excellent visual design and composition skills. Strong listening and interview skills; experience in conducting user interviews to gather design insights. Experience in planning and conducting user research, user testing, A/B testing and rapid prototyping. Strong writing abilities; experience in forming or collaborating on research guides. Ability to quickly synthesize research, create prototypes and iterate designs. Highly fluent in prototyping software. (Adobe XD and Axure is a plus) Deep understanding of mobile-first and responsive design with usability best practices.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Proficiency in HTML5 and CSS3. Experience with Bootstrap framework helpful. Ability to effectively communicate design thinking, future state ideas, and product solutions. Ability to work effectively in a team setting including synthesizing abstract ideas into concrete design implementations. Adaptable and capable of working in a fast-paced environment. An active listener. Open to constructive feedback and new ways to solve problems. Passionate about improving customer experience through design thinking and user research.
4-year degree in UX design, IT or other related course of study, or an equivalent level of professional work experience.
As a key member of Brightpoint Community College’s Creative Services team, the graphic designer will provide design services related to the college’s visual identity across print and digital platforms, from advertisements and printed materials to environmental graphics, promotional items and digital artwork. The graphic designer will manage multiple projects simultaneously and work closely and strategically with other team members and clients to ensure all design projects adhere to the brand standards of Brightpoint Community College and further the mission, vision, and goals of the college.
Candidates must have considerable, demonstrated knowledge of graphic design principles and techniques. Candidates should have extensive experience developing creative concepts and preparing both print and digital designs to achieve strategic marketing objectives.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, with an emphasis on InDesign. This position also requires considerable knowledge of printing technology, experience writing detailed printing specifications for quotes, and preparing complex graphics files for production.
The ideal candidate will have strong project management experience, excellent verbal and written communications skills and be able to articulate the design opportunities and challenges of projects. The graphic designer must have the ability to analyze project information, set production schedules, and work effectively with leadership, colleagues, internal clients and vendors throughout all stages of departmental projects.
The successful candidate must be able to prioritize work and effectively manage multiple projects; work independently, as well as collaboratively, within a multi-disciplinary team environment; work well under pressure and meet deadlines; and exhibit sound judgement in making decisions.
The graphic designer also maintains the college’s photography and design template repository and design files, as well as provides guidance as needed to freelance photographers and video production teams.
Fan Works Design is a small graphic design and illustration studio specializing in book and magazine design/production. We are seeking a nimble, creative, and enthusiastic designer to work on multiple projects. Job offers flexible hours, working offsite.
