The Branch Museum Summer Events
Dear Branch Friends and Supporters,
This summer, we’re celebrating Virginia and Virginia artists! Our three exhibitions offer the beautiful work of Virginians in a wide variety of media. I hope you won’t miss the chance to explore Virginia right here in Richmond.
In preparation for fall and winter, our staff is also developing new ideas for webinars in all aspects of Architecture and Design for the coming months, so if you have ideas about what you might like to learn more about, send me your ideas for speakers and topics for our programs. Some of our best ideas come from you!
We hope to see you soon at The Branch!

House Tours are back!
Starting this August, we’re bringing back our House Tours! Museum tours feature the first and second floors of The Branch Museum and include historical information about the family as well as architectural elements specific to the Branch House. We also discuss the exhibitions currently on view. Tours last approximately 60 minutes and will be held every weekend on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with exception for special events. Click Here to see dates and times. We will be reducing group sizes to 5 people per tour. If you are interested in scheduling a private tour, please contact our Museum Educator at or call 804-655-6103.
Upcoming Programs
Frank Harmon Lecture and Workshop
Did you miss out on his events in November? Do you have more questions? Want to do more urban sketching? Frank Harmon is back for another lecture and workshop.
SEPTEMBER 10| 5:30 – 7:30 PM
Harmon will share excerpts from his book, Native Places: Drawing as a Way to See, and examples of his own architectural work to illustrate how sketching “as a way to see” enhances the grace with which we observe and appreciate all sorts of “native places”.
SEPTEMBER 12 | 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
During the Urban Sketching workshop on June 20 at 10:00 am, Frank Harmon will teach participants how to look more closely at the particulars of place and nuances of objects within that place, then express their observations more clearly through sketching.
